Who is the course aimed at?
​The Award in Education qualification has been designed for those who want to start a career as a teacher and are looking to teach in the post 16 education sector or in private training or education institutes.

What will I learn?
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training course is designed to give you the skills and qualities required to become a good teacher and to develop a successful learning environment.

Unit 1 – Understanding Roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
​This is the mandatory unit for the course, where you will learn about your role as a teacher in lifelong learning. It is the foundation of the course and will give you all the knowledge you need to be effective as a teacher in lifelong learning.

​Unit 2 – Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
This unit is a mixture of knowledge and practical and will give you the understanding you need to be able to understand the various learning and teaching strategies and methods. You will also learn about equality and diversity and their importance. You will also learn about planning an inclusive session, using inclusive approaches and assessment methods. You will have the opportunity to plan and deliver a short lesson as part of your micro-teach.

Unit 6 – Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
This unit is about assessment and will teach you everything you need to know about it. If in the future you decide to become an Assessor, having completed this unit you will get an exemption for unit 1 of the Assessor course.
How does it work?
​You will be provided with a workbook and detailed guidance on how to complete the workbook and gather the required evidence to complete your qualification. Support and assistance is available online, through presentations and by working with your appointed link tutor. There is also the option to attend taught courses which will provide a further insight into each individual units as well as portfolio and evidence building. You will also need to be able to carry out two short 15 minute mini-sessions of practical teaching, record and review this teaching and complete formal observations of your teaching.
Progression routes
Having completed the Level 3 in Certificate in Education and Training the natural progression is to move onto the Level 4 certificate in Education and Training. The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is aimed at people who are looking at getting into teaching or those already involved in teaching or working as a teaching assistant who are looking to further their training and qualifications. It is also ideal for assessors who are looking to add teaching or tutoring into their personal skill set.
Pre-requisites?
- Be competent in your field, the subject your want to teach.
- Level 2 written and spoken English (Equivalent to GCSE A-C).
- IT literate (Internet, Microsoft office).
​​- ​Self-motivated and willing to complete and achieve.

​The cost for the training support, registration, workbook, assessments and certification is £175.00
​In addition there is the option of attending the classroom taught sessions.
