Qualified Teaching and Learning Status (QTLS)
What is QTLS Status?
- It is a status that is gained after achievement of an initial teacher education qualification.
- A continuing professional development opportunity enabling you to demonstrate how you are continuing to develop your practice underpinned by the 2014 professional standards.
- A combination of narrative and supporting evidence to highlight your progression.
- An opportunity to critically reflect on your practice in order to make improvements and to demonstrate the impact of the process of professional formation on your practice and your learners.
- An opportunity to show how you are continuing to apply the theory covered in your ITT course to your current practice.

Eligibility
- Evidence of an endorsed ITE qualification at Level 5, eg Diploma in Education and Training or a PGCE
- Recently qualified teachers need to have achieved their ITE qualification for at least six months before submitting their completed workbooks for review
- Maths and English qualifications at Level 2 or above
- Maths and English teachers need evidence of personal maths/English skills at Level 3
- Need to be teaching learners aged 14+
- Declaration of personal suitability (fitness to practise)
- A supporter or mentor who you can support you throughout the process
- Evidence of an endorsed ITE qualification at Level 5, eg Diploma in Education and Training or a PGCE

- Maths and English qualifications at Level 2 or above
- Maths and English teachers need evidence of personal maths/English skills at Level 3
